Who Is Chris Sargeant?

Dual Dark Horse winning winemaker, Chris Sargeant has a Midas touch for crafting fine wines driven by a creative combination of intuition and tradition.

Chris had early success with his approach during vintages at Flowers Vineyard and Winery in California with winemaker Greg La Follette.  Greg La Follette is one of America’s most accomplished winemakers while Flowers Vineyard and Winery is described by Decanter magazine as a ‘leader of the Sonama Coast’.

 Followed by vintages in Rutherglen, the Hunter Valley, the Yarra Valley, Geelong, Portugal and China, Chris has continued to gain a cult following for his award-winning wines. 

With an instinct for premium fruit selection, each variety and vintage presents a fresh canvas for the particular fruit to be showcased.  Chris brings to life the personality and unique qualities  of each harvest. 

From a small family vineyard in the Yarra Valley, Chris Sargeant found his métier.  After studying science at Monash, he graduated from Charles Sturt with a Bachelor of Applied Science, majoring in Oenology.  His passion for winemaking is borne from an instinct for science,  coupled with a creative drive for wines that speak of their origins with a balance of flavour and finesse. 

With a reputation as a gifted winemaker who likes to call his own shots, Chris has put his money where his mouth is and backed himself to launch Sargé Wines.
